Hello everyone my name is Kyle.
I have an 2008 Eclipse that I acquired shortly after high school back in 2013. I have put this car through hell and it has yet to give up on me. So now it is my time to five it the TLC that it deserves. I'm not really too car savvy but I am very good at youtubing!😅 I cant really afford to break the bank on my car but I would like to do things here and there on it. I've hopped around from forum to forum to get ideas and I've just gotten a cluster of things so far.
I've been wanting to add glasspacks to my GS but I'm not too sure on how to go about it. Yes I know they're probably not the coolest. But it would be a start of something new. Or should I get a CAI first? Hopefully I haven't pissed anyone off by making a new thread here. But I did so sorry!🙂

Welcome to the club!!
The whole point of this part of the website was me hoping people would throw up their own thread, not just comment on the official welcome I stickied lol
You'll never be stepping on toes posting or making threads here. If you're not meant to, you won't have the option to do it
For your mods list, I vote cold air intake before glasspack. You're going to love the sound of it at full throttle even more than any exhaust mods
Exhaust wise, glasspack is a fine choice so long as you keep your catalytic converters. If you remove them, be sure to use a proper muffler or else the raspyness will wear away at your soul as 1997 Honda civic owners laugh at the sound

I was just worried because other forums there is a lot of hate on people posting threads and what not all the time so I didn't want to be that guy. Cool deal.
So I already jumped the gun and went ahead and "installed" I did a hack job on it xD. I need to go back and re-run some things. I honestly had no idea what I was doing and just winged it.
But I am thinking about getting the DC sports CAI.

Nah. If people want to be dicks around here, they're not really welcome. Everyone has bad days, but if someone is just always an asshole for no reason they're gone.
People posting isn't the problem, it's the purpose!!
What sort of hack job are we talking? I've done some pretty hacky hack jobs lol. I'd love to hear about it

So I went to autozone and purchased the glass pack, one 2 1/4 exhaust connector, and 2 clamps. Well the connector only fit onto the glasspack and not the exhaust. So I had to go back find a new connector, well i couldn't find anything that would fit over my exhaust. So instead I found one that would fit in it. I thought about having someone weld it but couldn't find anyone who would. So I just clamped everything together instead. As everything finally came together I realized that i couldn't pull it far enough to the old position of the previous muffler. (I used metal hanger strap to lift everything.) So it's kind of currently sticking out pretty far right now and just looks rough.
I think im going to relocate the glass pack towards the middle of the car and re-pipe back out. But I am not to sure yet.....any suggestions....I'd post pictures but I do not know how yet.

BUT, I have to say the cheap eBay DNA Motoring stainless catback was surprisingly good quality for about $120! You get a full stainless 2.25” mid pipe, bends, and straight through stainless muffler with a nice double wall tip. The sound isn’t bad, all the bends are mandrel (no kinks), and only needed a little tweaking to get the fit right. So that’s not a bad option if money is tight.

Yeah I figure I get what I pay for, but I've already paid for it. Hah I have no idea what I am doing and "thought" this glass pack was going to be a simple add on. But clearly I was mistaken. Do you know of a way to straighten the muffler out. I cant seem to locate Any 45 degree connectors to adjust this.

I had my glasspack between the cat area and the rear subframe on that long stretch of straight piping. Stock there's a resonator somewhere in there that MAY be in the way. It's been too long since I've seen a stock exhaust
I'd avoid the DNA motoring exhaust if you live anywhere with salt or plan to ever modify it, or run much power
The size is great, they do nice bends, but the pipe thickness is paper thin, and after just one winter I learned that their grade of stainless is worse than just standard mild steel for rust. Downside to thinner pipe is a higher pitch sound as well. The same muffler arrangement as the DNA motoring with mild steel pipe would be much deeper tone. For about $200+Muffler(s) you should be able to have a shop build you something. I spent $180 Canadian on my 2.5" catback, and $340 Canadian on my 3" with a $120 muffler

If I want to keep my glass pack. How would I go about installing it properly?

So I've figured out that I am just going to swap my resonator with my glass pack and put an exhaust tip on.

Proper way is always to cut, slide the glasspack over the pipe, and weld it, but if sized right 2 1/8") you could use clamps.

Welcome aboard, There is only one way to learn. I had a 95 eclipse that was a victim of my learning days. Had that car towed out of my driveway at least once a month.
