My brain is cooked, mainly from working outside in the sun all day. But I'm struggling with finding if I am going to run into any issues by switching to a fuel cell with an inline fuel pump and a evo 8 fuel rail with rail regulator and return line. I know the current returnless system is run via the ECU. I'm thinking the car will not run correctly if the ecu can't control the fuel delivery. If so can a tune fix this?

Not the most useful reply, but I'll be testing that myself. I've got an evo fuel rail, manifold, and pump setup I'll be trying to make work.

Was debating on going with a evo 8 manifold but the forums said it's not street friendly for a n/a.

No, it likely wouldn't be. It would shift your powerband upwards, and hurt power down low.

Hit up the facebook last night, got a response that if you change the fuel pressure or go off manifold pressure it would require the ecu to be tuned for it. In my head that makes this a dead end project unless I figure out how to wire up the new pump at home and get online and find either Stayer or Michael to OTA tune it.

Fastworks supports it on forced induction tunes. You set the boost injector compensation table to 100% at all times when using a vacuum fuel pressure regulator

So you're saying it can be done?

Yep. Fastworks supports it.

Michael is the one that uses Fastworks right? Stayer uses ECMFlash?

Strayer uses ECUflash which can edit stock maps and ratios.
Michael uses Fastworks (which he made) which gives the ECU totally custom software, which gives way more control.

What do I need to get a tune from Michael? I read somewhere I have to download his program and record driving than send him the file?

1: buy Openport 2.0 cable (both tuners need it) 2: email and pay Michael. Details on the Fastworks website. Tell him all your mods 3: download Fastworks 4: read your ROM file with Fastworks 5: send that to Michael 6: download and write a reflash file Michael sends you 7: data log and send to Michael 8: download and write the tune file Michael sends you 9: repeat 6-7-8 as required until he's satisfied. It's a tune, not a reflash. There is no one file and done, unlike what Stas does.

stupid question, do I need to drive around and log or just idle in the driveway? Might have to invest in a newer laptop if I have to drive.

It has to be driving. You do a 3rd gear pull, 3000-redline or so.
Multiple pulls adds more data. Then you also do some normal driving in the log too. That way he can get the power and fuel economy in check.
It takes so many steps because he makes such small changes to fine tune it to your car. 5 rounds of tune files isn't uncommon

nice, new laptop it is. I have an antique that won't last an hour on the road.
