Im pretty young and dont have deep pockets, but i love my 4g and the 4g community seems to have some very committed members. Ive serched through club4g and found tons of information but i hope here i can find more exact information. My oil pump started to fail on an 8hour trip through no-where texas and now my motor is toast. Ive done light reserch but im debating what to do, just replace the engine (06 gt auto) or maybe swap a maunal with the v6 or manual i4 then turbo. But im also pondering how difficult it would be to do something more challenging. I know ls swaps are looked down upon but im interested. On the club4g fourms some were saying 20k while i see some builds on fb and such with a turbo ls done for 8k. If i were to do this i would get a junkyard ls3 and a manual tranny that would fit, hopefully out of a donor car so i can snag the wiring harness and maybe a standalone computer. Anyway this was my long intro. Advice would be super helpful!

Auto to manual swap is a nightmare, and requires a manual GT to make it happen
V6 to I4 requires basically a whole GS as well. The I4 has a different bell housing layout
V8 swap can be done, but you'll need to build a custom front subframe, and all your own mounts. It's definitely not for beginners
Best bet is to rebuild your motor, or swap in a fresher one, then sell it and buy a GS if you want a turbo GS. For V8 swap, you'll need to have someone around with a good set of tools and experience. It absolutely can be done, it could probably be done for about $2.5k even with a junkyard 5.3, and corvette intake manifold and oil pan.

Fixing the car then selling it doesn't sound like a bad idea, although ive been searching around and have found people selling a wrecked gt manual, assuming i have all the parts nessasary, which part of a auto to manual swap will be most difficult?

Searching through club4g i found that you had said
"If you're wanting to use the automatic car's body, you'll have to swap the harnesses, body control module, clutch assembly, ABS module, brake fluid reservoir, etc etc etc from your manual. Basically, gut the auto car, gut the manual car, swap the stuff all over."
I fully expeted to need to install clutch plus clutch stuff, i thought the computer would need to swap maybe the wiring harness, but i didnt think i would need to do things such as an abs module

The ABS for the auto and manual are different because of the clutch lines

Awesome thank you for your help. I read on some other threads of people doing a manual swap and i think i will attempt it. Worst case i will just swap engine's. It wont be easy but i don't think i should let that stop me from trying. One more question though, ive seen people say they will try toyota exaust manifolds in the 4g as a replacement for catless headers. I would really like the hp gains but 600$ seems a bit steep, is there any other option like getting a shop to just cut the cats out and straightpiping them?

You could try. Just show up with the manifolds in hand, say it's for your racecar. Any emissions legal shop won't be allowed to do it.
What toyota manifolds do people use on the 6G75?

Gotcha. Yeah, Scion for the GS. It hasn't been tested yet, it's pretty new. But it's a direction being researched
