It's not much, but it's coming together. It's just so damn cold out still, and I've been working out issues with my daily.

It's supposed to be a flat black, but came out that way and I honestly prefer it.

Are you using an aftermarket cam or the stock one?

Stock for now, custom made later
Progress has been slowed due to near winter conditions again.

we have been getting September like weather here that last two weeks. Cold and raining. If you find someone to make a custom cam for less than $800 as a group buy sign me up.

If you're looking for a not street friendly but high rev high boost larger valve setup cam, this will be the one for you! Lol

Honestly i'm torn, can't make up my mind. I've never played with turbos, though I've always wanted to try it out. I'm sticking to finishing up the suspension and brakes this year and hope to have my mind made up by winter when I start the fuel cell project. I really wanted to throw a supercharger on it, But with cost to benefit ratios, it looks like turbo is the way to go. That is why I'm following your build, and many others, in hopes of learning something. If I do go turbo, It will definitely involve going to less street friendly.

My current setup is 400hp capable, highly street friendly, no noticable lag, starts to spool around 2000rpm.
Depending on the goals, you can have street friendly and turbo on this car. And at 400hp you'll just spin through the first 3 gears anyway

My goal is roughly 300hp. What size turbo should I be shopping for?

A 16g Evo turbo and modifying an Evo manifold. Should do it at 6-8psi.
It's likely the cheapest most responsive way, and won't overstress the turbo

is internal waste gate better than external in lower boost application?

Internal is easier to work with manifold wise and simpler than external, but you'll have to get a low boost actuator and make a custom bracket (no big deal)
External has the advantage of being easier to run a dedicated exhaust pipe from, however if being plumbed back into the main exhaust pipes, it's more work.
You're also not limited on size as badly with external as internal. On my 16g, I'm internal. On my EFR 9280, definitely external.
Larger wastegates allow for more exhaust flow, so higher horsepower and potentially higher torque depending on the setup
