Knock knock, my engine is ready to die.
Was driving down the road, and had some bad detonation at 3000 rpm, 4.5lbs of boost, part throttle. About a quarter mile later, I started hearing some rod knock. No excuses, time for a rebuild!!

Just wondering: do you have a wideband O2 sensor and corresponding gauge? Did you have it dyno tuned after the turbo was put on? I’m assuming this will be a good excuse to do forged pistons and ARP bolts.

Yeah, I have a wideband. I did some road tuning with Michael, but we didn't get as far with it as we wanted (we met up after work while he was on vacation and kept working until 1:15am!!).
My nasty tune ran like hell before I saw him, so my tune probably did the damage in all fairness.
Gonna do ARP head and main studs, ACL main rod and thrust bearings, wiseco pistons, Eagle rods.
March 15-20th I was gonna start the engine build anyway. Just now I can't drive it to store it

Sounds like a great build up! Looking forward to seeing some pics.

I don't want to go without a sports car anymore though. And don't wanna drive automatic all winter again, lol.
Probably buying an Audi TT on Wednesday as a new daily. That'll keep me going until I rebuild my engine this spring. Should be good for around 220-230whp after a few simple mods and seeing a tuner. It will pull casual 14's in the 1/4 mile, and won't need sports tires to do it
EDIT: The Eclipse isn't my daily, my daily is a lifted crown victoria I'm getting bored of

Yah ive always liked the way they looked. Seems a little soft in the performance area but overall a fun car

It launches way harder than the eclipse ever did, and that's on $110 tires right now lol. Stock suspension on it is really nice, stiffer than stock Eclipse, but not as stiff as my lowering springs. Overall the ride seems good, it's quieter. Extra quiet because MY STEREO IS WIRED WRONG. Someone put all the speakers off the subwoofer output... It doesn't even have a sub.
It's definitely got more issues than I was expecting, but talked $1000 off the price, so for $2500 it's not bad... Might need to replace a motor/trans mount, needs alllll the brakes (sat for a year without driving), missing the armrest in the center, hood release is fucky, there's a seat adjuster that seems to do nothing, stereo needs rewiring, needs an alignment, fenders are rusty... And it smell(ed) like cigarette smoke, BADLY. The guy I bought it from never went without a lit cigarette while I talked to him... Always lit a following one before the current one burned out. Been working on that already... The ashtray is unused and clean, but the headliner by the door has burns. Still, cheapest running TT in Ontario for sure.
Engine was rebuilt 20,000km ago, new clutch, new alternator, new battery, tie rod ends, tires... Aside from whatever clunks whenever I lift my foot off the gas under throttle, it's mechanically good.

Good stuff to hear. Hopefully most of these tasks arnt too much. It honestly sound more like time consuming projects then real hard head turning fixes. Best of luck with the fixer upper!

Thanks.
Hood release is a job where I release it with a long screwdriver from underneath, then clean or replace the latching mechanism that sticks.
Speakers are rewire
Mount... Is gonna suck.
Alignment is my wallet and a shop's problem..

Officially the eclipse is in storage now... Not much will be happening with it until the 15th of March when it comes home.
Just... A lot more days. Then I pull the motor

The weather has been mild where I have it parked aside from wind that kept ripping my cover off. Was able to snap a picture yesterday... I really miss driving it

I kinda know how you feel. Mines been in the garage since Christmas, Goes in on the 25 to get coilovers dialed in and alignment. That is only if it doesn't rain or snow that day.

Got bored, did some tuning. It now makes 10.5psi boost and maxes out the MAF sensor. Next up, speed density?
